DGG avait déjà édité deux coffrets format 33 tours : voir Leonard Bernstein Collection.

Quant à Sony, le legs discographique de Bernstein est proposé en plusieurs éditions, il y a quelques mois un coffret de 100 CD, présentés comme « remastérisés » (voir Bernstein remastered). 

Il y avait eu, dans le cadre d’une Bernstein Edition vraiment intégrale, deux précédents coffrets, le premier comprenant toutes les symphonies gravées par Bernstein pour l’essentiel à New York.
